Wrapping 3-night paid stay here for workcation (participating in virtual conference away from distractions of workplace and home) - my second stay at this wonderful property. Booked 1 Q room with work desk. Inquired about suite upgrade via app day prior to arrival, and was obliged with upgrade to spacious King Junior Suite on 8th (top) floor. *Functionally* layout is more inline with what I'd expect of a full suite, except that bed is separated from living/work area by partial dividing wall instead of full with door. Large bar-top table with three stools for work and eating, separate shower and tub. While the furnishings are not explicitly high end, they are super-well maintained and uber-clean. Separate HVAC controls for bed and living areas; tried both heat and AC and both worked quickly and (relatively) quietly. In general, good shower pressure, though have noticed twice intermittent "blips" in lower pressure every ~ 90 seconds that seem to occur on somewhat predictable basis - in other words, can't be solely explained by water use in adjacent units. Parking is free in adjacent municipal garage. Hotel daily FNB benefit is $15/day (above "minimum" required $12) - can be used at ECDC coffee shop (open for breakfast/lunch), The Informalist restaurant (dinner), Dive bar (so named because located in 2nd floor area where pool used to be), or room service. As was noted in other forum topic, the Pablo Group owns this hotel (and dining operations) - clearly identified in all dining materials that they pay staff a living wage and that tipping is not required (and any tip provided is divided amongst all staff). [NOTE: They also own the Firehouse bar 2 blocks away, where you can get crowlers to go.] Service has been phenomenal: consistently friendly and responsive to app requests/questions. This is definitely above my general expectations for a DoubleTree - great hotel, and would be my highest recommendation for anyone who needs to be in the Eau Claire area.
