    DiamondBase Double→King Deluxe, first floorUpgraded

Just wrapped up a one night stay here. Early checkin at noon-ish was no problem. Booked base double & was upgraded (several times & then downgraded again) to a King Deluxe on first floor. Spacious modern room with window overlooking ... nothing except a wall. Didn't really bother me but a bit dark. Breakfast was excellent. Tea pots for tea - yes! Nicely done hot food & excellent (not dry) muffins. Nicely done/presented with good service from (most) staff. Checked out at 10.am a satisfied customer.

DiamondKing Deluxe→Same room as bookedNo upgrade

Booked King Deluxe (for 2 nights) & received same (highest cat. of room available I believe). Digital key requested, not available though. Upon checkin the front desk offered us 2 bottles of water & explained Diamond breakfast arrangements - it finishes at 9.15 am - ridiculous! Room , although pretty tight for 2 adults, was nicely decorated with all facilities stylishly done & fully working except that the AC wouldn't function on cold setting - reported to FD. Comfy bed, decent bedding & pillows. Quiet with no extraneous noises/disturbances. Our 9am breakfast buffet looked good but was poorly executed, sadly. Dense, rock hard croissants & far too super-sweet bircher muesli. We didn't want any hot items although perhaps should have, LOL. Perhaps we were unlucky. This is definitely not a standard Hilton buffet/breakfast, that's for sure, as the basic ingredients are of higher quality. All-in-all a very nice property with some downsides but on balance we'd happily stay again.

    DiamondKing Deluxe→King Junior SuiteUpgraded

Just wrapped a 3 night stay. Booked King Deluxe & pre-upgraded to a King Executive View & then on day of arrival a King Junior Suite. NIce room with a small, separate living area. Goo views over to Gamla Stan but a little impeded by much construction around the hotel. The room is showing its age somewhat & I feel a refurb is due soon. Breakfast in restaurant is decent enough - not great but with particularly outstanding croissants. Evening lounge drinks were very good. Bombay Sapphire gin & tonics went down well. Food options good - one hot dish per day - soup/fish etc. plus decent sandwiches/cheese/chips/fruit. All good. I would stay again.

Platinum EliteKing Corner Junior Suite→Same room as bookedNo upgrade

My first stay since my previous post in 2018. Yikes, what a downturn. Arrived to manual checkin as IT system was down. Resolved reasonably quickly via staff unlocking the room for us until IT problem resolved. Had booked the same category that I was upgraded to last time. King Corner Junior Suite. Boy things have taken a turn for the worse. Rugs hadn't been adequately vacuumed & we found a rather grubby bathroom. Kettle & coffee maker was full of the last occupants water. Not good enough. Housekeeping came to resolve matters quickly but we didn't feel enough was done as there was too much ingrained grubbiness so requested a deep clean of the bathroom the next morning whilst we were out. This was done & it felt much better upon our return. Management sent a cheese platter/wine/soda as an apology but the damage was done & we didn't feel like spending time in the room "enjoying" F&B) Frankly the place feels very tired now & it's only redeeming factor is its stellar location to the V&A Waterfront.

Platinum Elite1 Bedroom King Apartment→Same room as bookedNo upgrade
    • Free breakfast

Just completed 4 nights here. For the cost...it's pretty unbeatable. Location is stellar. Booked (& received) 1 Bedroom King Apartment. It's not luxury (we already knew that) but it's pretty immaculate & is very well equipped. Breakfast (Bonvoy Platinum) was complimentary & was fine. Decent fruit/granola/yogurt & a la carte egg dishes cooked to order along with speciality barista coffees included. Of course it's not a massive 5* Asian style buffet but we were perfectly content especially as we needed room for the superb local dining options at lunch & dinner. Excellent friendly service too. Would stay again.

Diamond EliteClassic King Club Room→King 1 Bedroom Residence with Balcony, marina viewUpgraded

Just wrapping up a 2 night stay here & have a few thoughts. Booked Classic King Club Room on Ambassador BOGO rate, pre-upgraded to King Junior Suite but eventually ended up In King 1 Bedroom Residence with Balcony & marina views. Room was well equipped but fit-out was clearly done on-the-cheap & it is prematurely showing it's age, is dull & just rather unappealing to me. Club Lounge is a bit of a strange one. It feels like a bit of an afterthought as its small, is squeezed into a narrow space & with a wrap around narrow terrace. Once again, it feels rather worn. Service here was pretty good & there was a decent enough evening service with plenty of good booze options & the usual lounge bites. A calm breakfast vibe was prevalent (which was most welcome) - we didn't try afternoon tea. Room service was efficient & courteous as were the door guys who were well drilled with taxis etc. I'd say there is nothing bad about the hotel its just dull & bobs about in the middle of a sea of many more appealing options in Dubai. I chose it purely for the location & to burn the Ambassador BOGO certificate. I wouldn't stay again (& will not be renewing my Ambassador membership) as I much prefer Hilton/Marriott options in the locations that I visit. An example of this is that we travelled from the Doubletree Hilton Yas Island in Abu Dhabi & we MUCH preferred that property. Beautifully fresh & bright new property with a higher quality fit-out & better layout/space. The Staybridge there is ok but older & not as appealing - YMMV but there you go.

Good:Staff Excellent room Great view BAD Nothing Value for $ or IHG One Rewards Points? Would you return? Yes, absloutely. I used 44,000 points & consider this superb value. Also received 4pm checkout.

Platinum ElitePark View King (with SNAs)→Grand Executive King SuiteUpgraded

Just wrapping up a three night stay & overall had a very comfortable stay: Upgraded from a Park View King (using SNA's) to a Grand Executive King Suite. Room was fine enough but really starting to show it's age even though it was mostly quite well maintained. The emerald green carpet is just dated though & brings down the whole feel of the suite, which is really dark to begin with! Yikes, definitely not our taste. The lighting is lacking in all rooms but particularly the bedroom & wardrobe areas. Quite a bit of wear & tear in general but particularly the old & rickety bathroom which really needs an upgrade. I mean one sink?! No rain shower?! Lol. The bed was really comfy though & the pillows great once we'd ditched the foam "rocks" & replaced with feather pillows. Was not offered (& didn't need) a late check out & was never told about the lounge operating hours or any of the facilities but of course we figured that out! Was left a nice plate of choices & a bottle of red wine which was a nice touch. I found the lounge to be excellent with very attentive table service for evening drinks & an interesting selection of hot & cold snacks with highly professional staff. Breakfast in the main restaurant was good with quality items & barista coffee. The hotel is in a great location & provided a comfortable stay but I do hope rooms are brought into the 21st century soon. Not 100% sure we'd return...it'd depend on rates & other options.
