Very pleasant property indeed
This from my stay in August 2021: Booked a Club Intercontinental King, upgraded to Club Intercontinental King One Bedroom Suite. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was extremely comfortable & had very high quality linens & pillows. The club lounge was closed (covid) but full breakfast offered in restaurant, all day tea/coffee, afternoon tea & evening cocktails offered in lounge bar/cafe. I experienced good member recognition, generally excellent service & most staff provided pretty pro-active service too. There was however inconsistent service at breakfast/missing items etc etc. The hotel is very well maintained but is somewhat dated. Rooms are in great condition & IME the suite we had was very comfortable. The pool is quite pleasant too & we received good service & decent F&B there too. Can recommend Cut by Wolfgang Puck for dinner, which is located at Four Seasons hotel, a 15 minute cab ride away. Its a decent hotel but I used a weekend 2-4-1 voucher otherwise its a bit pricey for what it is.
Upgraded at Checkin a couple of levels to a fairly spacious King with large bathroom, all good except AC not working, and it was hot (25c+ & stuffy in the room). Reception claimed AC working so I reluctantly agreed to check again after going out into town - I knew it was faulty & sure enough it still didn't work upon my return. After some huffing & puffing by staff & "The Manager" I was allocated the smallest double with a tiny bathroom. Oh well, the AC worked! Other than that the welcome amenity was either breakfast, 1,000 points or f&b amenity. I chose breakfast. I probably wouldn't return.
Recent two night stay was a real mixed bag. Booked & received a Standard King (overlooking rear of hotel)& room was in pretty poor condition - Leather desk chair worn/ripped, bed base same condition as desk chair, mini fridge outer door falling off of hinges, TV not functioning properly. "Engineering" visited to fix TV whilst we were out of room - despite front desk telling us it was fixed it wasn't. Requested room move & despite being "full tonight" we were allocated Standard King overlooking front of hotel. Room was in perfectly acceptable condition. Breakfast was an assisted buffet - very good quality hot full English including cooked to order eggs/omelettes. Small but decent cold selection. Staff in restaurant were excellent, professional & friendly. Front desk staff that I encountered were ineffective/borderline lazy. I would stay again (its convenient for our purposes) but be wary of room condition/maintenance.
Upgraded from King Standard to King Executive ("its a bigger room than standard rooms sir" - it isn't but I didn't say anything!) on day of arrival. Fast efficient check in, given Breakfast Vouchers & voucher for complimentary drinks in the bar 6-8pm. I had draft Peroni & Mrs NoY had a G&Ts. Very minimal snacks offered; popcorn-type nibbles plus a tiny plate of olives, crudits & dip, although we were offered another helping of these if we liked. Service was good. Breakfast was a little strange. A very limited menu was offered of either a full English, a continental or a hot vegetarian breakfast - "please choose one". This was delivered directly to the table. We customised the offerings a little & this was done with no issue. Juices, teas/coffees were self service & were all of very nice quality. Overall quite nice but a unique concept IME, even in Covid times, compared to the other Hilton & Marriott breakfasts experienced in recent weeks. Rooms, as expected, are very nice (except no rain shower), so no complaints there.
Just completed 3 nights here - generally fine but my oh my the M Club (temporarily set up in the lobby) was a zoo every night - Thursday, Friday, Saturday) Breakfast in Goji was OK but a total disaster on the Sunday morning - impossible to get drinks, food running out & generally the experience was awful - chaos reigned! We booked a One Bed M Club Suite & got no upgrade (didn't necessarily expect it) & that room was fine as usual but, naturally I suppose, in the current climate, this hotel is best avoided at weekends.
Millennium Hilton Bangkok, Thailand. Booked King Family Suite & got upgraded to a King Panoramic Executive Suite. Very happy, particularly for less than 2,500 baht inclusive of tax etc. etc. (yes, there are many great deals out there but we wanted to stay here & nowhere else would do!)
Excellent stay as always
Pre-upgraded on day of arrival
Just completed a stay here & as usual (unfortunately) I found it quite a mixed bag, despite reaching out to management before hand. I only chose Conrad as it's location suited us well. Pre-upgraded to a King Premium Corner Room, from a Standard King, which is a very nice space & my preferred room here. Some issues with the room included the blackout blinds getting stuck in the closed position, a window which did not close properly, thus letting quite a lot of traffic noise into the bedroom (I switched from the first room they allocated as this was even worse) & the bedside socket working intermittently, which was quite irritating. There were numerous communication issues/misunderstandings when contacting the "service centre" via the phone but we got there eventually. The Executive lounge is a bit of a strange fish! Thank god they completed the renovated lounge on the 29th floor as the last temporary lounge was a horrible space. The new lounge is a very nice space indeed. The staff are a real mixed bag though! Some greet you as you enter, find a seat etc some totally blank you & whilst the female lounge manager was a delight, her male counterpart was an awkward stand off-ish, snooty fellow. Food & beverage - adequate food - beverages good but nothing was at all outstanding. One evening the entire buffet's protein offerings were fish-based - eh?! The hotels Covid management was the strictest we have encountered anywhere in Thailand IME. Somewhat over-the-top in fact. Every single item in the lounge was individually wrapped in cellophane & no self-service was permitted. Even the sliced bread was wrapped & god help you if you tried to toast it! And before the covid-police arrive I know our well-being is important & we are fortunate to have a lounge experience that has near normal offerings & in Thailand we live a near normal life with minor personal restrictions etc. etc etc. I am just saying that having stayed in a dozen or so hotels in the last few months the Conrad was super, super strict. Perhaps because they are an ASQ hotel. Not once did a manager enquire as to our satisfaction etc. & I was asked nothing about my stay upon checkout despite the issues I encountered. This, to me, is indicative of poor leadership on their part. Perhaps we were just unlucky. It's not that any one thing presented a huge problem to us but multiple negative things just piled up. Perhaps this place just doesn't work for us?! Will we return? Mrs NoY has declared that she will not, so that answers my question then
