Recommended by a friend who only likes 5 star luxury hotel stays, we booked the one year old Ta'atkana, Luxury Collection in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia. Our stay was stellar and one of the most memorable ones. It rates high for service/staff, room, upgrades and food. Titanium Bonvoy member. Note: I booked early 149,000 points for 5 nights. Labuan Bajo is a quick one hour flight from Bali. The hotel will pick you up at the airport (no charge) and the attendent was literally on the jetway with a sign with our name as soon as we stepped off the plane. This set the tone for the service for the entire stay. The airport is only 5 minutes away. We had used 5 NUA, but they were denied. At check in with lovely Bella, we got upgraded from the lowest tier suite to high floor, sea view suite for first 2 nights and 3 nights in the freestanding 1 bedroom villa with plunge pool. The villa at 1205 sq ft was incredible and took my breath away. The breakfast buffet at Leros was one of our favorite things to do, because the food was incredible and it gave us a chance to interact with the friendly staff. Director of Culinary, Simon had a great personality and we have a friend in common from St Regis Bali. Head Chef, Andi really went out of his way for us. I did a Sambal demo with him and he later sent Chicken Sambal to our room. He prepared specially for me, Homemade Blueberry Jam for my toast when they ran out of the kind in the jar. One night he sent his famous Cubano Sandwich to our room. We loved the pool and Eduardus and Wellem took care of us everyday. There are over the water bunglows and jetty with boats that you can charter. They have kids club and 3 restaurants onsite for dinner plus the pool bar. There are 2 bars onsite and one has music starting at 8 pm. The Coffee Roastery is interesting and they roast beans there and explain the process.

    Titanium EliteStandard King→King with patioUpgraded

I had a 35K FNA expiring in a few weeks and scrambled to find a nice hotel for a one night birthday celebration for my boyfriend. We live in San Francisco Bay Area and were lucky to find a stay at Napa Marriott for 44K points on a Sunday night in summer. Maybe a computer glitch because it jumped to 55K after I booked it. We normally stay at Westin Verasa and love the location, pool, room upgrade and breakfast. Napa Valley Marriott gave us an upgraded room, which was standard King but it had a patio and sliding glass door. They gave us a cheese plate and bottle of Mumm for birthday celebration, which was much appreciated. Late check out 4 pm. Blossom, the Front End Manager was very nice and customer focused and waived parking fee $10. Location is about 12 minute drive from downtown Napa and right off the freeway. Destination charge of $30. plus tax includes Daily $20. F&B, Nightly Wine Hour (we enjoyed Josh the server), Yoga class, nightly s'mores, 1 hour bike rental for 2. M Lounge had basic breakfast, Afternoon -chips/granola bar/fruit, Evening-brisket, artichoke ball, cheese/crackers, veggies/dressing, asparagus. Desserts 7-9 pm. The room was average size, mini frig, bed was alittle firm, AC good, nice counter in bathroom. I didn't feel the patio was much of an upgrade. The pool had the most uncomfortable lounge chairs I have ever experienced. It's like they forgot to put the cushions on. This was a huge negative for us. Glad I could use my FNA certificate. The hotel has it's pros- M Lounge, Wine Hour and Cons- no valuable room upgrade, pool loungers are bad, location away from Napa. I would recommend Westin Verasa for the room upgrades, pool, location.

For a splurge birthday trip to NYC, July 7-12, I chose JW Essex House for the park location and the club lounge. I thought the 371K points for 5 nights was really pricey and more than I used for St Regis Venice or Florence. It's the most points I've used for any luxury 5 night stay, but I thought, it's my birthday and I am not getting any younger. The location is spectacular on Central Park South. We walked everywhere and the subway is outside the hotel back door. Central Park is lovely and walking on 5th Ave to the museums was easy as it's shaded. Shopping around 57th is heavenly. We loved Blue Ribbon Sushi a few blocks away. Titanium member upgrade from the basic room to Central Park view room was excellent. They also had balloons, gift/mugs,Prosecco and piece of chocolate bday cake in the room. The room was spacious and bathroom small. Room on the 18th floor and they said at check in the rooms higher up didn't have as good a view. There is a daily Destination fee of $45. plus tax = $51.63 per day. You get a daily $25. F&B credit and bonus $5. for elite member. Use it or lose it per day. Tickets to MOMA,, bike rental. The Club Lounge and staff was the highlight of the stay. They were friendly, attentive, professional. The breakfast was excellent with various fresh fruit, juices, coffee, bread and pastries, eggs, sausage/bacon, potatoes. Very fresh foods. The evening "dinner" changed everyday from shrimp, pasta, chicken with veggies, salad and evening variety of desserts. Afternoon snacks too. All excellent. Paid alcoholic drinks, which you can use your F&B credit. The staff only charged us 25% of the time, the rest they just gave us drinks and knew what we wanted when we walked in. Easy Uber ride to and from La Guardia. About $70-$75. plus tip. We had a great stay and recommend it for the beautiful park location, room upgrade (although it would have been nice to get a suite) and the Club Lounge.

Nice 4 night stay visiting kids/grandkids. Titanium upgrade to Club Floor King room. The lounge is open (no walls/door) right at the elevator on Club Floor. Morning breakfast buffet, usual eggs, sausage, toast, cereal, fruit. Snacks and drinks all day and Evening appetizers, jalapeno popper, mini tacos, cheese/salami, veggies/dip, cookies. Weekend breakfast is voucher to eat in restaurant for buffet, very similar offering to Club Lounge. Coffee and tea available in lobby to all at all times. A couple nights, we ate in the restaurant, good Reuben, Burger and excellent fries. Staff, for the most part, friendly. Room had microwave, sink, mini frig, coffee maker, which was nice. Small bathroom and room was on the small side too. Good bed. Grandkids came by and had fun in the small pool. Costco and Aldi less than mile away. Parking plentiful and free. We had a sunset view room and even saw July 4th fireworks. The location is in Woodbury, a high end suburb of St Paul. We found a Nature Preserve on one of our evening walks. Price was very budget friendly for July 4th weekend. Relatively close to airport, Mall of America. Tavern Grill is next door, we got pizza for the kids. The hotel worked great for our visit and price was right. There are only 2 suites in the hotel, so upgrade is hard to get. Room on Club Floor was the Titanium upgrade we got.

Our stay in Ho Chi Minh was amazing due to the fabulous stay we had at Autograph Collection, Vinpearl Landmark 81. Housed in the tallest building in Vietnam at 81 stories, we loved the excitement of this famous Landmark. Easy to take a Grab to the hotel from the airport. The manager, Camille gave us an upgraded room to the Landmark 1 bed panoramic suite way in advance of our arrival, so we didn't have to use our NUA. This was a 5 night cash stay and we absolutely loved the Club Lounge. When we arrived in the evening, we headed up there to find a vast array of hot gourmet foods (enough to make a full meal and more). Salads, breads, meats and cheese, fruit and lots of desserts on top of the made to order Noodle Bar and hot food options. Drinks were spectacular and so was the view from the 71st floor. We had our favorite table and our favorite servers. We are all Facebook friends now ! The weekend Seafood Buffet in Oriental Pearl restaurant is not to be missed. The morning breakfast is also served in Oriental Pearl and it is excellent. You can also go to Club Lounge for breakfast with smaller options. The spa and outdoor pool was really nice. We did a couples massage and very reasonable price. Gorgeous spa and infinity pool with loungers. The gym is also next door. Again, views from there are amazing. Our hotel room was gorgeous with 1.5 bath and coffee/tea station. We really enjoyed that we could watch our Netflix shows in the evening. The view from our 62nd floor room was outstanding. They provided treats upon arrival and every night at turndown. The staff was super friendly and helpful and we loved Hank at the front entry, greeting us and taking selfies. If I ever go back to Ho Chi Minh, I will stay at Vinpearl Landmark 81. This was our first Autograph Hotel and it was excellent. If you check on TripAdvisor, all positive reviews.

Excellent stay at Marriott Da Nang Non Nuoc. Please note, there are 2 Marriott hotels in Da Nang and this one is an all villa resort. The freestanding villas are 2 bedrooms or 3 bedrooms. We booked a 2 bedroom and got upgraded to 3 bedroom, so everyone could have their own bedroom. Each bedroom has ensuite bathroom and there is a separate powder room on the 1st floor. Spacious living room, dining area and kitchen (non-working stove). Large pool in the back, overlooking a waterway. 2 story villa was very spacious and they gave us the villa close to the beach and restaurant. Nice coffee maker and hot pot with coffee and tea supplies. The service is outstanding and the check-in was fantastic. Lee, the Duty Manager was so nice and we had fun in the lobby taking photos and video ! He went with us in the buggy to our villa and explained all the features of the villa. The manager, Jean even included breakfast buffet for everyone staying, total of 4. We enjoyed the free Coffee Class, yummy and vast breakfast buffet. When we were departing, our favorite buggy driver, Harry wrote us a note to thank us for our stay and welcome us back anytime. It was really touching. The location is great and you could even walk to Marble Mountain, which we really enjoyed. Next door, they are building a Mandarin Oriental. Don't miss the Night Market and Dragon Bridge when there is fire and water at night (Fri, Sat, Sun). He did airport transfer and 2 full days of sightseeing. The people in Vietnam are so generous, kind and eager to please. Lee delivered a departing gift bag the morning we left. We really enjoyed our stay and hope we can come back when it's warmer to enjoy the beach and pool.

    • Room with a view

Lovely JW Phu Quoc did not disappoint. We loved the college themed resort and the creative genius of Bill Bensley. Titanium upgrade from basic room to high floor, oceanview room. Our NUA was denied and a disappointment, as we were hoping for a Turquoise Suite. The breakfast buffet is really one of the highlights and the best in Vietnam. It was included in our room rate. So many varied options and all the food was beautifully presented, using the highest quality ingredients and almost anything you could want. My boyfriend loved the Vietnamese Coconut coffee. The friendly service is what we really enjoyed and looked forward to each morning. The Khem beach is powdery white sand and JW is on the far right side of the beach. There is garbage that washes up, but they are out there everyday to clean it up. Nice beach lounges and gorgeous infinity pools. One night, there was a reception at the Department of Chemistry bar with the General Manager and many of the managers. Lively music, drinks and hors d'oeuvres. The bar has great live music each night. One of the resort activities was a tour of the hotel with all the background story about the design. The highlight was one of the meeting rooms was painted by Jackson Pollock. The spa has an Alice in Wonderland theme and looked very nice although we never had time to use it. There's a free shuttle bus that goes to Sunset Town Beach. There's a nice grocery store and Night Market. We also saw the show, Kiss of the Sea and loved it. Tickets were part of our room rate. I highly recommend. We enjoyed our relaxing 6 days, 5 nights at JW Phu Quoc and it is very affordable. We recommend this hotel for the beach, breakfast, service and friendly staff.

Excellent 5 star stay at Westin. Booked 9 night "Stay longer" rate (cheapest room) at amazing 308 euros per night and used a 85K FNA. Used to stay here exclusively. I had 5 NUA to use but would have to break up my stay into 2 reservations and wouldn't get the "Stay Longer" rate. Emailed prior to arrival to request room upgrade and the standard "we can't guarentee, but will do our best". I was surprised to see Ambassador Suite on my App. Shout out to Titiki, Director of Guest Relations for the amazing Titanium upgrade. We arrived late morning from 12 hour flight and exhausted. After some conversation, they announced they had a temp room for us, as our room occupants had a late 4pm check out. Upon entering the corner suite, we were in love with the views going all the way from the Louvre, Jardin Tuilleries, Christmas Market, Musee d'Orsay, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triumphe. The sparkling Eiffel Tower was magnificant. Large corner living room, Champagne and juice was nice. Chose the breakfast as Welcome Amenity. Omelet station, bacon, sausage, potatoes, croissants, pastries, bread, smoked salmon, cheese, fruit, cereal, juice, yogurt. The highlight was the location. We could walk everywhere and when needed the metro at Concorde was right there. The decor, who some say is dated, didn't bother us. I think the hotel will be renovated 2025 as we're not able to book it again. Highly recommend for the best location in Paris. It snowed in November when we were there.

Excellent stay in Florence on Saver Award 344K points for 5 nights. Titanium upgrade to 1 bed Arno View Suite with small terrace. The view was gorgeous and sunset every night. We met Silva, the assistant to GM (he was out of town) and Ombretta, Director of Quality. The service was outstanding and we loved our original butler, Giovanni, but he was leaving for vacation the next day. The room was spacious and welcome Prosecco on ice, fresh berries and sweets await us. Fresh bouquet of flowers too. We appreciated the kind gesture. Good a/c and 2 controls, one for each room. The breakfast 7-11 am was on the 2nd floor with attentive service. The usual variety of foods and cooked eggs. Not over the top but ok. Some mornings, a butler would stop by our breakfast table and chat with us. Raissa noticed we liked the croissants and offered to send some up to our room. On our last day, we had an early flight and they let us pack up food to take with us. The room keys were old fashioned and you had to turn them in and retrieve them when coming and going. Our room had 4 stair steps between the living and bedroom which wasnt optimal. We enjoyed the remodeled spaces and walkable location. The St Regis sabrage at 7 pm was nice although they did not allow guests to do the sabrage like at other St Regis. Nuts, olives accompanied the nice glasses of champagne. Our butler recommend La Bussola, which we really enjoyed. Delicious truffle pasta and huge portions. Sophisticated interior. We didnt eat any meals other than breakfast at the hotel, nor did we use the spa. They have a Business Center with computers which was very handy. We are appreciative of the staff, including the concierge, breakfast staff, butlers, housekeepers, bell men, front desk and management.

We can't say enough great things about the St Regis Venice. They have made us feel so special and appreciated. Welcome Bellini in our view room. Iced Prosecco and cookie in our room as welcome gift. Met new GM Audrey and she was very nice. All the staff is helpful and friendly. Used NUA and the resort did upgrade on top of that to gorgeous Grand Canal view 1 bedroom 1.5 bath suite. Corner view room. Loved the interior decor and don't miss the old traditional interiors some of the other hotels have. Welcome Amenity was Buffet Breakfast, normally 45 euro per person. Nice selection of buffet foods and 1 item off the menu included. Great location and walkable to all sites. Easy access from train station using Water Bus. Upscale shopping and Piazza San Marco are easy walking distance. At 5:00 pm everyday, they carry out the St Regis tradition of sabrage. My boyfriend did a great job of sabering. Raissa, our butler gave us the cork and framed photo. Our departing gift was a beautiful espresso maker and Italian cookies. Best stay !
